It has long been true that a warring people will take any new advancement, benign or otherwise, and find a way to use it in a manner that brings destruction. Genetics is no exception, but when creating sentience, the outcome may not be the desired one.
Birthing is what they called it, yet hardly could the two be compared. This more resembled the actions of Dr. Frankenstein, and until now, it had met only with failure. The Demigods project was the U.S. government's super-secret genetic manipulation program, and they had finally succeeded in bringing to life a human of extraordinary ability. The problem, however, was that she had chosen to run, rather than to submit to their bidding.
Fortunately for the man in charge, they could find her, and eliminate her. A second was soon ready for birthing, if only they were not to learn the meaning of the old phrase, "be careful what you wish for."
Now, hatred would peruse love with such wicked intent, and two extraordinary women would play a deadly game of cat and mouse to determine the fate of one man.
