"The sun stood high as Kal made his way through the Emporium. He wore no hood or cloak to conceal himself, but walked openly with his back straight and chin high.

The Emporium was the largest market in Alexandria. Behind it, rising for all to see was the Great Caesareum. In front of which stood two obelisks that Kal had seen before, but in different parts of the world. These obelisks he knew would one day be known as Cleopatra’s Needles, and one would be in New York and the other in London.

Kal was enjoying himself immensely, as he walked through the city’s bustling streets. There was a hunger for knowledge in the city and its people were open to new ideas. Kal was saddened to think of what he knew would happen to this city in a few hundred years, but all things had an ending. Then something new would begin, as it always did."

It has been nine years and Kal Hudson is in Alexandria. His businesses in Massalia Gaul have given rise to the Continuum. A Powerful Commercial Empire that has swept across the Mediterranean. A young man named Antonius arrives bearing the news that his father, Atilius, has been killed by an assassin. Also that the assassin is now in Alexandria. All is not what it seems however, as Kal quickly discovers. By piecing together the puzzle Kal realizes that there is some unseen enemy behind this assassin, but who is it and why?
