Have you ever felt betrayed by those who you thought were your friends? Catnip T and Herb planned a special tea party to share with all their closest friends, but on the day of the party none of them came. They became saddened because of all the work they had done to make it special for them. So Duke, the dog, who also helped in preparing for the party, decided to go out and find some 'new' friends to share in their fun. The moral of the story is that sometimes our friends let us down, but God is always there for us. The pictures in the book are of both farm and wild animals. Most of the pictures have simple Bible verses about the meaning of true friendship. At the end of the book there are several recipes that can be used for a children's tea party as well as instructions on how to make an invitation. The story is loosely based on the parable in the Gospel of Luke about the rich man who invited his friends to a feast and no one came and so his servant went out to invite others to come.
