In a not-too-distant and over-populated future, the chasm between the wealthy and the poor is vast. The government has the power to decide who can and can’t have children, based on each person’s genetics, finances, and the prestige of his or her family tree. A small code showing the strength or weakness of one’s genes is tattooed on the skin between each person’s eyebrows for all to see. By federal law, a contraception device is implanted in every girl at puberty, and that device can only be removed when she is granted a license to have children.
In her 40s, Abby has come a long way. She has worked her way up in the world and finally become eligible to achieve her dearest dream: having a child. Unmarried and alone, she wants to find a sperm donor at worst and a husband at best.
It looks like her handsome 28-year-old chauffeur Rick may be her knight in shining armor. But unknown to Abby, Rick has his own plans. Although happy to share her bed, his agenda is shockingly different from hers.
