The last time you walked into a diner, did you even suspect that the owners could be watching you? Analyzing your order? Checking you for drug or alcohol abuse? Sizing up how delicious your blood might be?

Maybe you should.

Driven by a need for human blood and a love for modern technology, Jovan and Ivana opened a diner. Humans enjoy made-to-order fast foods in a funky atmosphere with free wi-fi and complimentary drink refills, with techno music lightly drifting from the jukebox. And after Jovan clinically draws blood from the healthiest of the humans, the vampires drift in for their feast. Who will they choose next? The solitary man gnawing on a turkey burger, or the arguing father and son?

A short story (just under 5,000 words) that is first in THE VAMPIRE DINER 7-book series. Book 2, BEGUILE, will be released December 2014. An excerpt follows:

"The girl was as delicate of an eater as she was a drinker, taking tiny bites from the tuna melt, peering out the window as she chewed, trying to avoid looking at the staff any more than she had to, acutely aware of the trouble she’d caused. Jovan would leave her a little blood. Enough to make sure she survived."
