President Obsma rules by executive orders, he disbands Congress and suspended the constitution, congress and most of the country have finally had enough. When congress starts to review articles of impeachment they realize there isn't a member of the President's administration they can trust to become President. They fight among themselves until they decide to reach into the military for help. President Obsma decides not to go quietly into the night. He asks the liberal states to secede and form the Liberal States of America. The United States breaks into two nations. With America internally focused , Russia and China decide the time is right to divide up the rest of the world. They dump trillions of US dollars destroying the value of the dollar. Russian invades Europe which has reduced their military so much, they're a speed bump on Russia's drive to the English Channel. China takes over all of Asia. General Brownstone who takes over the presidency forms a new government, changing the direction America has been going in. While he's trying to change the countries direction, the media is fighting him.
