I am a klutz. My manual dexterity is nil. Yet I wanted to perform, to entertain my friends and even strangers when the circumstances required it. Mentalism provided that opportunity.I have devised fifteen mentalism effects that I know from my own experience will astound. They are all “original”, although like many effects, are built on the shoulder of giants whom I identify. They are suitab for the beginning magician, yet some will fit easily into a professional act. Some will require more organization than skill. I have included a variety of effects — cards, memory, money, prediction, mind reading, and coincidences. Some of the effects can be done without any assistance; others require visible or even invisible help. Some are more suited for a large audience (a party); some would focus on one person. All will have audience involvement. Some are stand-alone effects; others are more suited to be part of a more extended act. I’ve tried to make them “clean” at the end allowing materials to be examined. The synopses of the effects are honest descriptions of what the spectator sees and does. Four of the effects were previously published in different magic magazines, all but one over a quarter of a century ago. “If you’re all thumbs, then use your brain.”
