First comes the pea...
Danielle has a problem, and the only person who can help her is Prince Orrick. She's not going to let a prickly castle guard--or a shiver of trepidation about what the Prince might do to her--stop her from getting what she wants... freedom from an arranged marriage to a man twice her age... freedom to continue managing her father's inn... freedom to find love...
When it looks like she's about to be turned away from the castle, she tells a little white lie in order to gain entrance.
And then comes the princess...
Orrick knows Danielle is completely off limits. He's supposed to marry a princess--a real princess who can feel a pea through an entire stack of mattresses--but then the innkeeper's daughter shows up at his dinner table and all bets are off. He makes her a deal, one steamy, spicy, night in exchange for her happily ever after.
When he wakes up the next morning and she's gone, this Prince Charming has to figure out what really makes a princess.
