He walked over and tilted his head forward so the light on top of his helmet fell on the water’s surface; it was a leech alright the first one he had seen for ages. He straightened up and pointed the nozzle down at the leech. Something big came out of the shadows like a steam train and he screamed and dropped the nozzle as he felt sharp teeth bite into his sides. The blood gushed out of his moth and covered the helmet screen inside. The powerful jaws locked down on his body and carried it away into the dark sewer tunnels. The screaming had stopped and all was quiet once more.

Stefan hummed the words to U2s where the streets have no names he loved U2 and wanted to go and see them soon his father had said that would be fine. He saw his father disappear down the pump room steps and looked at the empty plate he wanted another cheese and ham with pickle sandwich. He would go and ask the cook in a minute but he wanted to go for a swim. He looked up at the glass ceiling, and felt the heat on his handsome face.
It was Saturday and soon it would be Monday again he didn’t like Mondays it meant he had to work for five days. Five days of bringing tea and coffee, and then having to do the entire office photo coping. He wished he could just stay at home, and play video games that’s what he liked but his father would have none of that.
“You have to work at your age boy.”
He would say and then the old line of “I was working when I was sixteen.’
Stefan sighed he had better make good use of his days off. Then he heard the splash, and looked at the pool something large had gone into the water. He could see the dark shape swimming towards his side of the pool and he got off the bed and went to the side of the pool. He looked at the furry creature with its pointed ears and beady evil eyes that were fixed on him.
He said out loud.
“Daddy we have a large rat in the swimming pool!’
He looked around but his dad had not answered him.
“What do I do daddy.’
