Excerpt:
Sam smiled and wiped his hands on his legs, then pocketed the bottle of sunscreen. He stretched and got up, shading his eyes. “Walk along the water?”
Liam seemed to hesitate, glancing out at the sea and then back to Sam. “Okay,” he agreed, standing up and kicking off his flip-flops. He headed down with Sam to the water, their hands bumping and brushing idly.
When they got to the water, Sam squished his toes in the damp sand, grinning and starting to walk along the tide line. Liam stayed firmly on the dry sand, and Sam chuckled to himself. I bet he's afraid of water. Cute. Weird, but cute.
“Don't laugh at me,” Liam scolded him.
Sam laughed just because he'd been caught and reached out to shove Liam's side lightly. “I'm not laughing at you...”
“Yeah, you are. I'm used to it, though,” Liam smiled a bit. “Walk down to the end of the beach and back?”
Sam nodded his agreement and set off at a slow amble. “So, um, this seems like a good time to ask...”
Liam wordlessly reached out to slip his hand into Sam's.
“...Oh.” Sam squeezed Liam's hand lightly and smiled. “Okay.”
Liam chuckled and nodded. “Yeah,” he murmured. They stopped walking and Sam turned to face Liam, the sea to his back. Nobody else was in their immediate vicinity, and Liam was looking... well, smoking hot. Sam leaned in, Liam's body leaning forward in return as their lips met.
The first kiss was slow, a test of what might yet come, and the second slide of lips across lips was less tentative. Immediately, Sam liked Liam's kissing style – patient, slow, but hinting at some kind of burning passion in those depths.
