Two young women, friends since grade school, start having visions that mysteriously link them to a catastrophic event in the past. Roberta’s husband Bill releases his wife’s repressed memories while attempting to show off his ability to hypnotize people. Hallucinations haunt her, causing her to have a series of accidents, putting her in the hospital. Roberta accuses her husband of causing her injuries, but the doctors believe that she is causing them herself and they suggest therapy. She chooses regressive hypnotherapy which unleashes another barrage of horrifying memories. Meanwhile Roberta’s friend Joyce, who is pregnant, has to deal with an exasperating series of events in her attempt to help her friend, jeopardizing her own health and that of her unborn child.
