This book, the first in the series, helps children read by mastering commonly used words first. The words used to create the books are based on the dolchlist. The books are kept short to enable early readers to read each book and finish in a short space of time. Most of them do not come with illustrations. This is to help children concentrate on the words rather than continue associating pictures with words. I personally used these books to teach my twins to read. I would therefore recommend them to parents who wish to teach their own children to read.
