When Derek is brutally bashed and left for dead by Taylor’s friends, Taylor is guilt-stricken and returns, alone, to help him. After leaving a reluctant Derek in the hands of his father, a well-respected doctor, Taylor finds himself at a loss. He must weigh his loyalties to his friends against his responsibility to the cold and ungrateful victim of his friend's actions. Thus begins a difficult and complicated journey for the two disparate teenagers who can only abhor each other more and more the closer they get. Taylor is confronted and confused by Derek’s proclivity for self-harm and his seemingly reckless sexual activity – it collides with his own straitlaced upbringing, governed by a strong moral code. Yet Taylor is also strangely drawn to his new friend who eventually forces him to confront aspects of himself that he scarcely knew existed.
