Nora Finn hadn't heard from her friends Jake and Cyrus since they'd all graduated high school ten years ago.
So when she got an invitation to go to her tenth high school reunion, she figured it was worth it. If only to see who she might catch up with. And maybe to see if she could catch up with her two old high school crushes now that they were all adults.

It's not like you always end up in a strange hotel bed getting serviced by two hot (and I mean hot) guys after a long evening of wine and conversation. Not if you live a regular life. But that's exactly what happened to Nora Finn. And it all started with a call from a woman she hadn't heard from since her high school days.
Nora was sitting on the couch in her pajamas, eating popcorn and watching a romantic comedy on cable TV while her cat Chester was curled up next to her, purring like a well-oiled chainsaw. It was a nice, mellow way to end her workweek. She was a probation officer by day, so dealing with misfits and losers all week meant that she was ready for a little fantasy release at the end of every week. Any movie with Hugh Grant usually did the trick.
The phone rang. She thought about letting it go to voicemail, then answered. “Nora here.”
“Nora, it's Linda.”
God, I haven't talked to her in like eight years.
Linda said, “Just wanted to know if you were coming to the reunion next weekend. Number ten!” She sounded excited, like the idea of meeting classmates you hadn't seen, in most cases for a decade, was her idea of the Best Time Ever.
“I don't know...you know me. I wasn't exactly the cheerleader type. Might be kind of weird to see everyone again” Maybe that's an understatement. I hated cheerleaders. And how'd you get my number?
“Well, it would be really great to see you again. And as designated President and Planner of this year's Reunion, I really hope you make it.”
Her voice sounds like she swallowed a triple dose of Prozac and chased it with a shot of Vodka.
The movie got to a scene where the characters were talking in bed, and Nora realized she'd missed the conversation. She wasn't really a phone person. And this call was slipping from unwelcome to annoying. She said, “Sure, I'll think about it.”
“Really, you will?” Surprise in Linda's voice. “That is terrific news! See you there! And go Yachtsmen!”
Someone please reduce her medication. “Yeah, see you there. Bye.” She hung up.
Nora realized she wasn't going to finish the movie, and the call from Linda had aroused one curiosity. What are Cyrus and Jake up to? She'd had exactly two crushes in High School, both of them her best friends. Both of them beautiful examples of the male species, although completely different from one another. Cyrus was the preppy smart-aleck. Always well dressed. And his friend Jake was totally opposite. The bad boy. Leather jacket. Rode a motorcycle to school and parked it in the Principal's spot more than once. And even though the three of them had hung out since freshman year, she'd always been too shy to make her move. And Cyrus and Jake didn't seem to see that she was attracted to them, even though she went out of her way to make it obvious.
Kids can be so dumb sometimes. Especially boys. It might be worth showing up just to see what those two jokers have gotten themselves into.
