Two Mice who live in the Dearborn Library discover a device called the Bookmark that allows them to enter and become a part of any book in the library. They are taken to the table of contents where they can choose any chapter they would like . Once inside the chapter they interact with the characters in the story. There are many adventures to explore in books, and Tom and Bill show the reader just how informative and fun that can be.

In their first adventure, they meet Henry Ford, and help him test his first car, "The Quadricycle", they also help him win his one and only race.

Tom and Bill's Adventures are meant to encourage the young reader to read as much as they can, and to have adventures of their own with a good book.
