The long history of intrusions, invasions and abuses of Latin America is a dark chapter of U.S. history. Most of the factors and conspiratorial aspects of U.S. actions abroad are masked or unmentioned in history textbooks. To those who have endured those abuses, however, a different image of America emerges. Most of the image Mexicans hold of the United States can be supported by fact and through the work of serious historians. This work, therefore, presents the United States as seen by many citizens of Mexico and it is only fair that their view should be presented in contrast with the propaganda of patriotism.
