Every day, all around the world, homes are changing hands; families and individuals are buying and selling houses to the tune of tens of thousands of sales going on. But bringing all those vast numbers down to a personal level, the incidence of a family buying or selling a home is usually a once- or twice-in-a-lifetime occurrence.
Because of that, it becomes an extremely emotional event – on par with a wedding, or the birth of a child. The young couple purchases their first home together; the retired couple sells the family home to down-size; the businessman moves his family out of the old familiar neighborhood due to a job transfer; the divorced couple is forced to sell to make a settlement. The list of reasons for selling goes on and on, but each incident (and many more) all amount to an event that is not considered an everyday experience.
