“The Book” recounts the tsunami which took place in Asia on December 26th 2004 . I, The Book, survived it and this is my tale. With me were six men, four women, two children and a pregnant cat. This is their story too; people who found themselves sharing fear, desperation and then hope. How some supported others in the moment of need. How some took advantage of the chaos left in the wake of the great wave to act out their darker sides. "The Book" describes how their personalities changed in the face of danger revealing them for who they really were.

Written "on the road" with a palm computer, digiting the novel letter by letter with a stylus pen on a keyboard the size of a mobile phone; this story is about travelling through the challenges of life. About how disaster strikes out when least expected. About how the sunny shores of a beach can turn into a disaster zone of pain and despair, and ultimately it is about love and human redemption.

The author Clare Ann Matz was born in New York and has travelled the world extensively with particular interest in the culture, art, music, cuisine and languages of Central and South America and of the Far East. Television anchor-woman, journalist, film director, butoh dancer, musician, singer and multimedia-visual artist, she now lives and works in Italy.
