She peered into the bookstore to see if she could possibly get a hint of what she could expect tonight when she heard a sharp knock on her car's window.
Katie nearly screamed, she had never been so startled in her life. Her hands automatically her to the keys and steering wheel in the impulse to flee.
"Are you Shawna?" Asked the man standing next to her car. For a second she had forgotten she had given an alias to the man on the phone and she shook her head.
"Oh my, sorry to scare you like that," he said. "I was just expecting someone else." She quickly rolled down her window.
"No that's me," she said in a rush. "I was, um, confused for a moment there," she added lamely.
"I'm Tom, you got my message?" He asked her, smiling broadly.
Katie nodded at the man as she eyed him closely. He was dressed in dark slacks and a charcoal grey shirt. He was very handsome too, she noticed.
