This color eBook with cartoon style (text on picture) instructions shows how to build a generic ATX PC. I intentionally selected a build that includes both current and legacy technology, since many cost conscious PC builders will want to recycle good parts from failed PCs.In the years that I authored the bestselling "Build Your Own PC" series for McGraw-Hill, I received two complaints. First, the lack of color pictures, which was easily solved in this eBook. Second, the descriptions of the latest technology and pricing went out of date by the time the book was printed. I solved that by dropping practically all of the text, there is no discussion of what parts to purchase and why, or how much they cost - all of that information is better acquired through tech support forums and online stores with product reviews. The only text in this book is included in text balloons right on the photographic illustrations. With just over 60 action photographs, we detail the build of a standard ATX PC in a quality case with multiple fans, a dual SATA hard drive array, a legacy DVD recorder, PCIe video adapter and legacy modem for rural installation. Every step is detailed, including installation of a CPU in an LGA socket, CPU heatsink, RMA, and all of the cable connections. The eBook is priced at the minimum Amazon allows for the large file size. If the feedback is positive, I may create a new edition for the latest gaming technology.
