This true story follows the adventures of a stray ginger tomcat named Paka from an African city. He is transported by mistake to a Safari Camp in the wilderness where he discovers a very different life. Wary of people, he is obliged to throw in his lot with all the strange animals that he meets and he learns to survive in the jungle with new dangers to confront every day. Paka has close encounters with leopards and crocodiles, lions and wild dogs, but he always dreams of meeting another cat like himself. After five eventful years on his own, he permits himself to accept a mouthful of fish from a kind man at the camp. His life changes, but not too much and he still roams the wilderness with his elephant friends. Then one day, out of the blue, something terrifying happens!
