Alfie “The Cork” Corcorani is always on the lookout for new ways to increase his mob family’s power and wealth.When he learns that his Southside Chicago drug dealer, “Shine”, has been moving more product, he ups his percent of the take. Convincing Shine, however, requires intimidation which does not set well with the leader of the Black Sox enforcers.The Cork also discovers a possible opening into casino gambling. The tiny Quapaw tribe is in dire need of money and jobs but it does own land near the small town of Metcalfe, Mississippi. Corcorani hopes to exploit the weakness of the tribe’s legal council Raymond Running Fox to his advantage.Things are going well for the Corcorani family until Shine implements his plan for revenge and the moral code of the Quapaw tribe compels some of its elders to take action. Sheriff Thomas Wolfe Guy, aka “The White Guy” or “TW”, takes a personal interest in their concerns and does some common sense detecting into extracurricular activities at The Cork’s casino.Readers will enjoy the repartee at Snip Snip Feelys’ barbershop in Metcalfe and will be surprised by the fast-paced, action-packed conclusion.
