In both situations of being a firefighter and having cancer I have learned that time was never on your side. I knew quite a bit about 'time' since the younger generation calls 'Father Time'. I also was known as 'Pops' because I was the oldest member in the district. There were several times they would call me 'Old Fart'. Disrespectful names and jokes surrounded my age. That could be the reason why I decided when I was diagnosed with stage four cancer to try to change the town of River Falls, Maine back to the way it once was. When respect and doing things out of the good of your heart was still an everyday occurrence. Now I was given one year's time to be able to make a difference in not only my community but my family. Would have enough time to do this?
