Each encounter is about one of the nine emotions of ancient Indian literature and dance-dramas and also about an issue of modern India.This is the tale of a man who sets out on a journey around the country of his birth and origin to relax and meet with friends and family after having lived abroad for sixteen years. Little does he know that he is about to go on an emotional roller-coaster ride where he will discover and get to know India in a way he never imagined.The novel is an attempt to look at India in the new millennium and examine some issues, how they affect the common people and their reactions – some positive, some negative, some even violent. The novel is also an attempt to look at the complex diversity – cultural, religious and linguistic – of the country.
