It’s getting up and the morning and going to bed at night and all the things that lie between.St. Teresa of Avila wrote in her classic “Interior Castle” that God dwells in the center of our self. Finding God in everyday life is about finding God in our own true selves. Too often we think of holiness as something lofty and distant. We gaze up at the Mountain where Jesus is teaching the beatitudes and forget it is up to us to bring that teaching down from the mountain, into our everyday life. Our holiness, or lack of it, lies in those small everyday things that make up our life. They are the ordinary events that comprise what St. Therese of Lisieux describes as her ‘little way’.
