Volume 7 of the MIKE Sports Comic Book Series focuses on my all-time hockey favorites. My choices are both predictable and, in some cases, a little surprising.Included are four legendary players and one eerily nicknamed Stanley Cup Champion with a creepy sounding job. As expected, skating into the book are two of the best and most respected hockey players ever. One is called The Great One, while the other is simply revered as Mr. Hockey and seemed as if he played the sport for a century or so.Several Hockey Hall of Fame players are included. Two excelled on the ice and prevailed away from it. They overcame debilitating diseases and became Hart Trophy winners and Stanley Cup Champions. In addition, you’ll be pleasantly surprised when I spotlight three immediately identifiable items only found in the sport of hockey. One is every hockey fan’s fantasy to drive. The other resembles a miniature aquarium at center ice for naughty players to serve time for unwarranted penalties. And, the third is the cherished silver chalice universally regarded as the greatest championship trophy in professional sports.Since hockey is a team sport, I also highlight two famous teams. Both will bring back memories. The amazing 1980 USA Hockey Team upset still ranks as one of the most incredible moments in team sports. And, the rough and tumble brawlers from Philadelphia will still cause the blood of hockey purists to boil. Every pick in this book has made an impact on the sport. They’re all worthy of being recognized by a clever illustration. These comics capture the nickname of the player, the team, the unique box and the manly machinery found only in this sport. In addition to the comics, I include a little history in each chapter about my selections and explain why I believe they all - including the Broad Street Bullies - belong in Hockey Favorites.================================================About the book's narrator: MIKE - aka Mike Raffone:MIKE is destined to become the first ever animated brand in sports to be seen on television, the web and on Jumbotrons in stadiums and arenas. As narrator of the MIKE Sports Comic Books series, MIKE immediately connects with readers. MIKE's books are entertaining and always easy to read.Plus, the unique sports comics that accompany each chapter cleverly capture the essence of the featured player, team, coach, play, sports expression, or in this case, spiritual sports favorite.Readers normally collect multiple sports comic books because they enjoy MIKE's inventive take on the sports, teams and athletes they love.About MIKE's Creator & the book's Author - Jim Sweeney:Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Jim grew up with a passion for sports and fun.
