Routine is a key part of living a full and happy life. It allows time to sleep and time to have fun and learn. It provides opportunities to sit down and eat as a family and enjoy being together.

Babies and toddlers thrive on routine. When a baby is established on a routine he feels secure. He knows that he will be fed regularly, and will be given opportunities to get enough sleep. There will be time made for playing, exploring and for relaxing.

Little Book of Routines provides six routines for children age two - 18 months. Mums and Dads who use these routines have had great success. Here are some of their comments:

I believe that by applying Michelle's routine consistently and structuring Mia's days in such a way that she can easily recognise what's coming next made her feel content and happy, a baby that didn't have to cry at all - unless something really bothered her. Mia then developed her own communication methods - she would start 'complaining' rather than crying when she got tired, and thanks to the routine it was easier for me to recognise her cues. We now use Michelle's 6-9 months routine and I can't help but feel very smug every time someone says how calm my baby is! - Nada

I changed our son's food regime to match the guidelines in the book and I think this helped him sleep longer in the night, he was good at sleeping through from a fairly young age but would wake around 5am, just a tad early, now he sleeps until 6:30-7am which is a lot better. Anyway, a huge thanks to Michelle for her advice, it's certainly helped us a lot! - Jeremy

We downloaded the worksheets which were invaluable. They provided me with a portable template for my day and it was so easy for dad or grandparents to find out how the day went and what the plan was for the rest of the day. We could also look back on our successes and track our progress. - Twin Mum
