I am Florida. I am a State of the Union but, as important, I am also a State of Imagination. You might have tried hard to make young students interested in geography or history, only to be rewarded with yawns and “whatevers” and fidgeting. But geography and history can be as exciting to them as fairy tales. Just give children a spark to light their imagination. I’ll help you by weaving a good story about myself, where I come from, interesting people I’ve met, my truly magnificent nature and all the goodies that I am able, ready, and willing to share. Not for nothing they call me The Sunshine State. Come to think of it, maybe I can teach the grownups a few things as well. And if you are not thrilled by reading, I encourage you to look at the pictures. I painted them all myself. Honest!
