When Trisha was a young girl she lived in the doomed city of New York. When the vast sea walls that protected the city from the sea were destroyed by terrorists she almost died in its muddy waters.
But an Angel saved her life and gave her a warning: When she was older, she was going to be all alone in a dying world while she searched for her future mate and husband. The Angel, a being that called herself Cat, returned her to her relieved parents. Cat told her parents that they would one day die to save their daughter.
Finally comes the day her parents are taken away from her and a thirteen year old Trisha finds herself living alone in a cold brutal world. But she has courage and the strength to survive by herself. She remembers the promise made to her. And so she begins her journey though at times she is beset by doubt and fear.
