When seventy-eight year old Nettie McNabb moves into a new home in a rural community with her little dog Blue in tow, she accidentally catches her kitchen on fire. Nettie is quickly introduced to the town's Fire Chief Ed, young Firefighter Brody, and female Police Officer Maizie. In spite of the fire she is welcomed with open arms. She feels good about her move until she meets her new next door neighbor.
Dillion Ellingsworth is the retired Fire Chief and self-made grumpy old man. Having concluded long ago that he doesn't need people, Dill has no sympathy for Nettie's firebug tendencies and no qualms about saying so outloud. When Dill is roped into making the repairs on Nettie's kitchen, real sparks will fly between these adorable seniors. Who says growing old has to be boring?
