This is a new type of book. Its a visual book with over 2 hours of video Way back 7 years ago when I started photography and retouching I wanted to find a quick way to learn. I bought all the books, I could get my hands on to learn the basics of retouching, and it was quite a jungle. A lot of books would cover very complicated informations before getting into the real deal or explain menus or software features without practical examples. Then I discovered video tutorials, and this was a life changer for me. I could really understand faster as I would follow someone step on creating a piece of art. The fact of being able to see the steps rather than explaining the steps made all the difference in the world for me ! I soon as I began to master Lightroom, I started teaching using video tutorials and got a lot of emails from photographer telling me how faster this way to read a book. Then Apple released the possibility of embedding video’s content in a book, thus came to life this book project. This book doesn’t have many pages only 21, but has got 9 videos for a total of over 2 hours of Lightroom 4 learning. I have two rules that I try to follow when I teach a software : 1. No technical terms explained with technical words, but with simple English. 2. No theory, practical and visual examples only. This is a new type of books, and I beleive this will be a big part of education for the future. It was Steve Jobs Idea to include visuals contents on education materials for books on the iPad, and I think this will be a revolution. I now make a good living as a photographer and I owe that completely to this type of learning, I dont think I would have made it with just regular books. I would like to thanks Scott Kelby Matt Kloskowski two amazing Photographer and teacher whos help has been tremendous these guys literally changed my life for the better. I get up in the morning and do what I love, and I think that is priceless. I love to create and share technics, and I hope this Lightroom 4 Quickstart visual book will help you to master this amazing software and help create astounding photography - Serge Ramelli
