The goal of this program is to improve management of hospitalized elderly patients and assessment and management of pain in persons with dementia. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Detect febrile illness and infection in the elderly hospitalized patient.
2: Diagnose delirium and identify its underlying cause in elderly hospitalized patients.
3: Increase the mobility of elderly hospitalized patients.
4: Perform a thorough and accurate assessment of pain in patients with dementia.
5: Prescribe sufficient analgesia for pain management in patients with dementia.
