The goal of this program is to improve the management of stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and the office evaluation of the patient with a history of chest pain. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
Consider aggressive prevention through lifestyle changes and medical therapy instead of surgical intervention for treatment of stable CAD.
Recognize those patients with CAD for whom surgical intervention is clearly indicated.
Predict which patients with CAD are likely to have a favorable nonsurgical outcome.
Perform a thorough in-office evaluation of the patient who presents with a history of chest pain.
Determine whether a patient’s chest pain is noncoronary or a sign of underlying CAD.
