With the exception of Hud Hudson’s paper, earlier versions of the essays that follow were presented in the course of a conference on Kantian and Post- Kantian Aesthetics, which took place on the River Campus of the University of Rochester on May 10-12, 1990. The conference was in celebration of the 200th birthday of the Critique of Judgment and was sponsored by the De¬partment of Philosophy of the University of Rochester and by the North American Kant Society. The main speakers were (in the order in which they appeared) Nicholas Wolterstorff, Paul Guyer (impersonated by the confer¬ence organizer), Mary Mothersill, Carl J. Posy, Douglas Dempster, Stephen F. Barker, and Peter Kivy. Their respective commentators were Carolyn Korsmeyer, Noel Carroll, Jennifer McErlean, Rudolf Makkreel, John Morreall, Earl Conee, and John McGowan. Unfortunately, it proved impossible to in¬clude in this volume the contributions of Paul Guyer and of Douglas Demp¬ster or of any of the commentators. They all added significantly to the con¬ference.
