France Hodgson Burnett is a world-famous British writer and novelist. Her first forays into writing fiction began at an early age, largely out of necessity as her family struggled to make ends meet. She began by writing stories and serial novels to be published in magazines.
Although a lot of her adult fiction was popular in her time, today she is best remembered for her children's books. Such memorable works as The Secret Garden are now considered classics of English children's literature.
