This is a mystery of what could be called 'fictional murders' by Bayou Folk lure, slayings. Bayou folk lore mixed with actual murders will leave you shaking your head trying to figure out the questions and details of how and why they happened for a tale of mystery, suspense. What starts as kidnappings usually ends in brutal slaying by a serial killer, but is it a serial killer or the Bayou folk lure of the ‘Rougalou’. The 'Rougalou' is a seven foot tall creature that roams the Bayou taking the form of its choice and is quite possibly existant because of some of the extraordinary things noted in these slayings. Tales of Hoodoo and Voodoo religions mix to tell of the beliefs of the Cajun people that are like no other.

Hoodoo is considered “good magic”, “healing magic”, used by both priests and priestesses while Voodoo is considered “black magic”, “curses”, “witch magic”, practiced to cast spells of a negative nature on both humans and animals or as it is more commonly called 'Gris-Gris'. Do they work? That’s for you to decide. As well it is up to you to determine if the legend of the ‘Rougalou’ is real, but be careful not to make up your mind too quickly. The next animal slaying, murder, spell, kidnappings or potential escape may very well lead you to question your own thought processes. Is it all in your mind or is it real. The Cajuns know what they believe and what they live on a day to day basis, but is it as easy to believe yourself not having lived it all your life. Follow the evidence, the facts and let's see where they lead you.

During the investigation of the slayings, escapes there is evidence that these crimes may have been committed by what you may think is a fictional creature, the 'Rougalou'. Even those with higher educational degrees admit to having seen this creature, but it was in their younger days as children living and recreating on the Bayou. There is evidence of cannibalism, mythical occurrences, and kinship developed out of working closely with the local sheriff departments, one other local FBI Agent and Special Agent Anderson's boss in this case. Evidence comes to light in the form of cell-phone videos taken by a resident of the Bayou that isn't completely definable as the Rougalou, but it can't be ruled out or tracked for that matter either. One thing is constant though, somebody dies or is nearly killed after each abduction, but how does somebody escape the brutalitiy, manner in which they are left? It's not like this is a sniper not hitting their target properly, this is brutal, unfeddered, tortuous murder. Not all the mutilated victims are left for dead, how did they escape the clutches of the almost certain death they were bound for, and why did they all test positive for rabies. All of the animals and humans killed or left for dead tested positive for rabies and a human could not survive with rabies long enough to commit all these murders, but the ‘Rougalou’ as a mythical being, very well could. According to locals he has survived many attempts to be killed, captured, hunted for dead and the target of trophy hunters from all around come from far and wide not just to try to catch a glimpse of this elusive creature, but to take it home as a trophy to mount.

Many law enforcement persnnel are called in to try and get ahead of this 'fictitious' creature or a twisted human killer, but still little forensic evidence is left behind at any of the crime scenes. Until the one thing that is found breaks the case wide open and as surprising as it may be it doesn't bring about finality the way you would expect. Surveilllance tapes prove to be helpful, but can be misleading. There is plenty of evidence to support multiple theories, like disappearances of animals, evidence left behind, no foot prints made in the soft dirt of a steep hill, the rabies virus in victims. It's a surprising ending that would make even the people of the Bayou wonder 'who done it.'
