On the snowy Colorado morning of his eighteenth birthday, Parker Wilder wanders aimlessly through the woods, completely unaware of the mental condition that is the cause of his isolation. His sister, Julie, labors over a birthday cake, sure that if Harrison had stayed after college, she would have found love.
Trapped in the grips of clinical depression, Josh tries frantically to find Parker; the only thing that keeps him going is the hope of winning over Julie’s affection. And as Harrison waits to board a flight at La Guardia, he thinks back over his past year away from home.
When these four old friends reunite to celebrate Parker’s birthday, it seems impossible that they will all achieve the happiness they so desperately desire. And yet, there is a glimpse of hope, if only floating in the dust.
