Purpose: Audio-Digest Foundation CME/CE activities are designed to provide its learners – physicians and other healthcare professionals – with continuing education that will help identify clinical problems in their practice settings, provide content to help to solve those problems, and increase their application of knowledge to practice.

The goals of this program are to improve the safety of opioid conversions in patients treated for pain and to improve screening and brief interventions for tobacco, alcohol, drug use, and depression. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Calculate the equianalgesic doses of opioids using equianalgesic tables.
2: Make adjustments to the opioid dose based on assessment of the patient’s pain severity and other psychosocial characteristics.
3: Perform optimal interventions for tobacco use.
4: Choose the appropriate and optimal medication for treatment of patients with alcohol dependence.
5: Use health educators to conduct screenings and brief interventions for tobacco, alcohol, drug use, and depression
