Purpose: Audio-Digest Foundation CME/CE activities are designed to provide its learners – physicians and other healthcare professionals – with continuing education that will help identify clinical problems in their practice settings, provide content to help to solve those problems, and increase their application of knowledge to practice.

The goals of this program are to improve the management of obese patients and to improve the use of bariatric surgery for the treatment of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Recognize and address underlying behavioral issues causing a patient’s obesity.
2: Assist patients in changing their eating habits and in making lifestyle modifications.
3: Utilize United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved weight loss medications in the management of obese patients.
4: Identify those patients who are candidates for bariatric surgery (BS).
5: Consider BS in management of patients with T2DM who have a body mass index <35.
