Purpose: Audio-Digest Foundation CME/CE activities are designed to provide its learners – physicians and other healthcare professionals – with continuing education that will help identify clinical problems in their practice settings, provide content to help to solve those problems, and increase their application of knowledge to practice.

The goal of this program is to improve the management of chronic pain flares and long-term opiate administration. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1: Differentiate between chronic pain flares and other types of disease processes.
2: Identify factors that contribute to pain flares.
3: Treat episodic chronic pain flares with an emphasis on effective long-term care as well as prevention.
4: Manage long-term opiate administration with an awareness of common pitfalls associated with chronic pain management.
5: Detect and limit substance abuse while maintaining effective opiate-based treatment for patients suffering from chronic pain.
