Levi Robert Reising has terrorizing nightmares manifested by fits of unprovoked anger and property destruction. His controlling grandmother is evasive with a psychiatrist. Subsequently, he reveals his nightmares in a letter and carries out his own plan to end the dreams and escape his circumstances. An Odyssey of Illusions tells about Levi's wishful thinking that his father's activities are actually covert government missions. The illusions are primarily fed by his father's compulsive behavior, secretive activities, and intermittent change of locations during the waning years of WWII. The story climaxes with culmination of the boy's plan to put the past behind him.
