Dead Awakening is a zombie action horror thriller set in modern times.A viral pandemic has just swept across the entire world, culminating into an apocalypse. The story begins in Chapter 1 with a group of university students who were trapped in a dormitory, surrounded by hordes of zombies. Bitten By A Zombie - Dead Awakening, Chapter 2 It had now been a year since the zombie outbreak had ravaged the region. Entire cities were now empty, devoid of human and animal life. Empty that is, except for hordes of the undead. Streets which once bustled with life lay littered with corpses, cars and homes lay abandoned as people left them to try and escape the zombie menace. Entire areas were blanketed with silence, except for the moans.Since escaping from the dormitory, David, Mark and their companions had, over the year, met and taken in several stragglers like themselves. They have learnt much about the zombies, their behavior and most importantly, how to kill them.On one occasion, David spotted someone smoking at a building a couple of blocks away from their make shift camp, a three story house.Taking the opportunity to look for survivors and supplies they need, David made his way stealthily to the building.True enough, there were survivors, mostly children. And also a horde of zombies out for their flesh.Stuck with the defenseless, how will David and the new found stragglers make it back to the camp? Here's a tantalizing excerpt of the story:David grimly squeezed the trigger. A loud crack echoed across the small room. The brief flash emanating from the pistol’s muzzle shone against the dimly lit interior. It highlighted Karl’s kneeling figure, emphasizing the large swathe of blood covering his stringy upper chest. The light illuminated Karl’s face. His pasty white skin radiated inhuman malice as his jaw moved continuously on its own, straining, biting against the empty air.A perfect circle appeared on Karl’s forehead, followed moments later by a trickle, and then a stream of crimson blood. Karl’s pale face was frozen; its features were a mixture of pain, fear and oddly, relief. He slumped down, involuntarily twitching for a few seconds before finally lying still. David lowered his arm; the revolver in his hand seemed to suddenly weigh twice as much. The First Zombies - Dead Awakening, Chapter 1Bitten By A Zombie - Dead Awakening, Chapter 2Check out Josh Atkin's collection at:http://joshatkins.gxcpublishing.com
