, My true accounting about the horror of the Viet Nam "conflict", it's effect on the BOYS who fought it, and a Country that chose to turn it's back. It is an intense emotional journey of a combat platoon leader in Viet nam. From childhood to adulthood in one year, I changed from a carefree teenager into a hardened soldier responsible for the lives of an entire infantry platoon. Their very lives and their loved ones lives back home were directly impacted by the decisions that I made, right or wrong. This book is dedicated to all who shared Viet Nam's misery and anguish. Those of us who fought their went through Hell, and brought this Hell home with us to haunt our minds. Those of you who had to stay home worrying about us may have endured the worst kind of Hell. The Hell of not knowing while we were there. The Hell of not understanding us when we returned. When we left, we knew each other and when we came home you didn't know us anymore. You didn't change, we did. We didn't even know ourselves.
Our wound is deep and it has bled a river. In many cases the bleeding shall not stop until the final heartbeat. But the entire country is covered by a SCAR that shall never quite heal because of the means of infliction and the Country's prescription of medication. It is a festering SCAR that needs to be discussed to be understood. To understand the SCAR one first must understand the injury.
My truth begins as a child in a midwestern town. I felt it necessary for each reader to know the boy in order to relate to the the soldier. To understand a soldiers feelings it is necessary to appreciate his background and personality. I believe you will find my book intrigueing, horrifying, sad, funny and educational on a roller coaster ride of emotional calamity during a dark period of American History.
My bound book may be purchased for $29.95 from me at tntrwe@frontier.com
