This is a fictional story depicting the immigration of a father and his young son to America during the 1800s' in the midst of the potato famine. The locations and dates are fairly consistent with the times. The work describes the endurance of hazards and discrimination they encountered in this long voyage and journey across the country and the true bonding of a father and son that lasted throug an unintended seperation of several years. It finds them together again, reaping their rewards of the choice to Immigrate.
