There’s nothing like the murder of a southern aristocrat…
Judge Jean-Pierre Batiste, the host of the Mystic Order of Momus’ annual Carnival Masquerade Ball, is found dead in the gardens of his perennial estate in Mobile, Alabama. The city has had its fair share of murders but none have piqued the interest and intrigue like the murder of Judge Batiste or sparked the wildfire of gossip that grips the city in the wake of the aristocrat’s death.
And things get more interesting with a new kid on the case…
Detective Demarco Cunningham catches his first murder case and things are not as simple as they seem. When aspects of the murder hit closer to home; affecting childhood friends and family, he has to decide what’s important, justice for dead philanderer or loyalty to people he’s known his whole life. On top of solving a murder, Demarco has to deal with aspects of the case that put many things in his life under the microscope. In the end, Demarco will awaken the truth.
