I clapped my hands together. "Oh Daddy, I just love you." I took the milkshake from his hands and sauntered back across the room, sucking fiercely on the thick concoction. It stubbornly refused to migrate up the straw.
"Well don't you look cute.” he commented, as I walked away.
"Thanks.” I flashed him a toothy grin. "You like?"
"Very much.” he nodded his head approvingly. "What are you all dressed up for?"
"For you", I said shyly. "I wanted to look my best from my tightly buckled shoes, to my tall socks, to my fluffy polka dot skirt, crinkling with crinoline, to my frilly blouse, and my hair done in a careful high pony tail, tied with a ribbon just because you were coming home ” I gave up on sucking on the straw, popped the lid off my milkshake, pulled the straw out, and started licking the thick chocolate nectar directly off it and dipping it back in for more.
"Well, you make your Daddy very proud.” he smiled at me. He walked over to me, grabbed my hand, and held it up high. "Twirl for me.” he ordered. I spun around, my skirt lifting and flying as I turned. "That was very nice, very nice indeed."
I beamed at him. He let me go and sat down on the couch. I dipped my straw back in the milkshake and drizzled it in my mouth. I missed, and a big clump of the chocolate frozen treat landed with a splat on my chest, trickling down onto my blouse. I opened my mouth wide in shock. "Oops."
