The life of Nelson, the embodiment of the sea power of Great Britain

The review from Amazon.com reviewer
A.T. Mahan is one of the most influential naval theorists of the 19th/20th centuries. This is the first volume of his two volume biography of Horatio Nelson, one of the most important admirals in history.

Volume 1 mainly deals with Nelson the ship captain (up to the Battle of the Nile) and the start of his public affair with Emma, Lady Hamilton. I was surprised how much time Mahan spent on the affair. His beliefs related to it weren't surprising, but I was surprised by the willingness to put it in writing.
