THE INFORMATION JUNKIE is a zany comic novel written in the first person. The narrator, Charlie, in trying to write a novel himself, enlists the help of Anthony Burgess, Martin Amis and Richard Burton. Charlie embarks on a series of adventures, some of which are realistic, others dreamlike. At one point he even finds himself in a ranch house with Marilyn Monroe. And throughout the work, Charlie stays in touch with his characters and engages with the reader. There is romance and sex. As well as being comically inventive, the novel also examines the relationship between the writer and his work. Prepare to laugh your head off, to be moved, to have your established beliefs challenged, and be entertained in the process. Say ‘Hi’ to Charlie, then say ‘Hello’ to yourself. NOTE: this will be a demanding read for some; but the rewards are there.
