Fiction based on fact. When I put this book on audio, it had a different name for the book and for the characters. Someone published it without permission. So I changed quite a bit of it. But the basic story that was fact is still there. This coming-of-age novel is now the first book in the Standing Strong trio. Jennie Starr and Susie have been best friends and share each others intimate feelings, including an unwanted pregnancy. It reveals the faith and friendship of two young women who are tested when they face decisions that will change their lives forever. Love and romance is never easy, especially for two Christian friends who struggle to live spiritual lives when real-life issues conflict with everything that they have ever believed is right. Originally, a changed on the inside book, it has proven to be more. The large book contains two more novels of friends of Jennie and Susie, . . .As I drove away from Susie, I had a feeling she had bigger problems than she was telling me. Why was she not willing to talk to me about them? That made me sad. She didn’t need Joe, of that I was sure. A mechanic who only worked when he got an itch to do so, he spent any extra money on parties in his apartment. I never accepted an invitation to one of them, because I knew there would always be drugs and booze. The people who attended were other losers just like Joe, none of whom had goals for their lives. I truly hoped that Joe was out of Susie’s life for good. Sample: "My name is Jennie Starr. I grew up in a Christian home and had always thought of myself as a good person. Of course, sometimes I did something wrong. I thought God would let it slide, but little did I know that was not the kind of God who had created this world. It took time for me to find the truth, and it took the help of others in my life. I needed a support group. When I met Miss Braun and Annabelle Duncan, I acquired usable knowledge of who I was, who God is, and how we would connect. . . We found a Wendy’s in the food court and ordered chili and crackers. It did feel good going down my throat. The warmth spread through me. I felt helpless as I watched Susie shiver again. I understood why she was so cold. Before we met, she had spent her primary school years in Phoenix, Arizona, where the summer heat could soar over 115 degrees. She was an only child with both of her parents immersed in their careers. They did not call her often after she moved into her own place. The music on the overhead speaker changed to “White Christmas.” I hadn’t seen a white Christmas since vacationing in Oregon when I was in the third grade. The music stirred a pleasant memory. “I love this song,” I said, wistfully.“Me, too. It reminds me of my childhood.” .As Susie struggles with a decision that may tear apart her heart and harm her physically, Jennie struggles to keep a secret promise that threatens her developing love relationship. As each young woman tries to find herself, her happiness, and her calling, they each discover that only one thing remains true: God's love. . . The men that God brings into each of their lives is a good thing. Plans for opening a business is a wise choice.I use my pen name for the ebbok.
