Time Birds© is the first novel in a series, following D.R. MacPherson’s adventures as founder of a secret intelligence group he’s named The Clan.

Central to the story is his invention of “Time Birds”, robotic solar-powered flying machines that appear identical to real sparrows, owls, hawks, etc.

MacPherson, a physicist and master inventor, is a former CIA operative with worldwide contacts. He quit “The Firm” years ago, becoming embittered at the illegal and unethical operations he witnessed.

He “retired” to his family’s property in Hamilton, Montana, where he constructed a secret underground laboratory, linked to the 24 other Clan laboratories around the world. This is one of two headquarter locations. The other is in Langley, VA, run by his two physics compadres from Princeton, Jim Jefferson and Will Halloran.

As the story opens, Will Halloran is leaving his Langley lab late of an evening, loaded down with folders and papers. As he fumbles with his car keys, he is shot dead by an unknown assailant, who slices his trouser pocket, removes his wallet and disappears.
